About Meggie

Equal parts playful and earnest, indie pop singer-songwriter Meggie writes bittersweet songs you’ll be humming the next day. Her lyrics highlight underrepresented stories––such as platonic love, friend breakups and queer joy––complete with micro details and macro revelations, that feel like a late-night conversation with friends. Working from New Haven Connecticut, Meggie elevates these songs with her warm, shimmery, sometimes eclectic production style. A biromantic asexual woman, Meggie writes with representation in mind, aiming to fill a gap in an industry that fixates on romantic love songs and breakup songs. Fans love her music for its “air of positivity and confidence,” noting that even her ballads usually land “on the happier side of bittersweet.”

Meggie’s poetic, sometimes rapid-fire storytelling and ear worm melodies has gained her comparisons to Gracie Abrams, Lucy Dacus, dodie, Maisie Peters and Taylor Swift. Also inspiring these comparisons is Meggie’s knack for translating full-band indie pop energy onto a single acoustic or electric guitar when performing solo. On stage, Meggie touches crowds with her warm, bubbly banter and ability to rally even first-time listeners to sing along. Meggie is currently pitching her songs to film and TV music supervisors and building a fan base with national tours on the horizon.

In 2024, Meggie earned a liberal arts degree in music and creative writing at Mount Holyoke College. As a student, Meggie studied with world-renowned musicians and developed an unexpected interest in experimental music, which lends a subtle but beloved influence to her production style––which she packs with sonic easter eggs and gentle surprises. A more noticeable influence sprung from her creative writing classes, where Meggie honed her skills in fiction and poetry; now she finds herself weaving winding stories and lively images into even her most commercial songs. Meggie also studied with the film department, where she deepened her love for films and music videos, all while working as a music technology TA and a radio deejay. To recognize her interdisciplinary approach to her music career, Meggie received the department’s Michèle Scanlon Prize.

“Meggie Unwritten,” a short documentary created by Sophia Anderson, follows Meggie as she grows her following in the Connecticut music scene and plants seeds for a national breakthrough. The documentary features unreleased songs, home videos, and behind the scenes clips revealing Meggie’s creative and strategic process. “Meggie Unwritten” can be streamed on YouTube.
